“I’m your best friend … You’ve just forgotten. My fault, I know. I can help you remember.”

Review

When Hannah was introduced, I liked her a lot. She had a smart mouth. She said things just how they were. The adults were always entertained by her wits. This book changed my opinion of her. I found her to be such a loser. Granted, she went though a major bump, but come on, that was five years ago.

And then she mentioned somewhere in the book that she did not want to put her family through what they went through when Ellie had a tumor. However, she was doing a fantastic job of shutting them out and keeping her distance.

And then, even as hurt as she was by Marco, after five years, she did not even try to move past him and find another man to love her. She shut everybody out. Wow. She was worse than Joss, and Joss lost her entire family. She lost a baby that she was not even aware of and a jerk of a boy who left her alone the moment he had his orgasm. Do you see my point here?

And then this Marco comes back into her life. I did not feel that he really loved her. Not like Braden loved Joss or Cam loved Jo. No. Marco himself admitted that seeing her at the wedding was a surprise. Which means that if he had not seen her, well, you know what’s next. She would have spent her entire life being alone.

He did not look her up. He left for America the next day because his grandfather died. He, however, did not give a single thought to the girl who lost her virginity to him the night before. How hard was it to just fucking call or even send a text message? Really.

And don’t even get me started on what happened when he came back to Scotland. He’d been back for four years. And not a single hello. His explanation? He had shit to deal with. He did not think he was good enough for her. Some shit. Are you freaking kidding me?

Another thing, while he was having trouble seeing himself as good enough, he had no issue sleeping around and getting a girl pregnant and all because they were drunk. Wow. What a jerk. If you are sober enough to get a hard on and fuck a girl, you are sober enough to put on a condom. Jesus Christ. I can’t even put into words what I want to say.

Of course Hannah and Marco were going to get their HEA. Yay! Well, at this point, I don’t actually care anymore. I just want to finish the book, so I can move on to the next one. This one here was really a huge disappointment. I had such high hopes for Hannah. And she was reduced to a weak martyr-playing girl who fell in love with the love of her life in high school, had a miscarriage and almost died, and then finding out that her one true love already has a son when she herself was so scared of getting pregnant again. Sorry, this book just did not cut it for me. I really wanted to give it two red hearts, but a lot of things in the book went against my views on true love, so I guess I am sticking to the 1 red heart, after all.

“When we were kids, I was in love with you … That never went away, Hannah.” He rested his forehead against mine. “And now that I know you again, I’m even more in love with you.”
