Indigo is running, she has no other choice. She’s done something bad, and the only way to escape it, is to flee her home, and her country. She sets out on a luxury Yacht, to take her to another country with her best friend Eric. But she runs into a problem.

The Yacht catches fire.

She ends up stranded in the ocean, terrified, and scared of the uncertain. Until they show up. The pirates. Terrified, Indigo and Eric have to face the reality that this might be the end for them. These are pirates, they are the criminals of the ocean. What chance have they got of surviving this nightmare?

Then she lays eyes on Hendrix. He’s the Captain, he’s gorgeous, rugged, and mean. He’s planning on keeping her to repay his debt to another man, by selling her. Now Indigo has a crazy ex after her, as well as a pirate she can’t seem to get out of her head.

Come on this heart wrenching, dark, angsty and dangerous adventure as two people so opposite, find something so beautiful.

I haven’t really read anything about modern pirates. At all. This means that reading this book, I actually did not know what to expect. I mean, the thought of pirates always brings to mind images of Jack Sparrow and women with sexy ball gowns that seem to be out of place in a shipfull of scallywags.

However, I surprisingly enjoyed this book. I have already mentioned many times that I like dark heroes. I like men who can be assholes and heroes at the same time. This goes without saying that I liked Hendrix. It takes a lot for a man to lead other men. It takes a lot for an outlaw to lead other outlaws. Hendrix was able to lead an entire crew of pirates, some who have been with him for a decade. That shows what kind of man he is.

I also like Indigo. She was a survivor. She may have endured two years of being beaten by her boyfriend. But that’s understandable why she stayed long. She had no family and the first person to show her a good things was Kane. However, she also found the courage to fight back and she even shot him herself and sent him to prison.

I liked that the book did not try to glamorize the love story between the hero and heroine. They started out with him wanting to sell her to another pirate he owed a debt to. Even from the first meeting, their chemistry was already off the charts. The sex scenes were hot too.

I am giving this book four red hearts because it completely surprised me in a very good way. I didn’t think the whole book would make any sense, but it did. I kind of like the idea of modern day pirates now. I will be looking forward to the next book, which will be about Jess and Hendrix’s stepson, Dimitri.
