“But the truth is, I want to be some woman’s work boots, not her high heels.”
“Work boots?” What was sexy about that? And did women have work boots?
“Yeah. You know, the boots she pulls out when she wants to get down and dirty, hiking or gardening or boating or painting the kitchen. The ones she relies on and trusts and lives her life hard and good and on her terms in. Her favorites.”

Grad student Imogen Wilson realizes she’s hit on the perfect thesis for her sociology degree. If she follows the so-called “rules” on how to get a man, can she steer her way into the world and hearts of stock race car drivers, and establish their dating- and mating-patterns?

Although sexy and reckless racer Ty McCordle is the ideal test subject, Imogen knows that for the sake of science, she can’t give in to her growing attraction for him. Yet he’s the one who’s chasing after her, and Imogen realizes that she actually wants to be caught. A southern gentleman like Ty will satisfy all her curiosity-and make all the risks worthwhile…

Let me just say, I love Emma Jean (I mean Imogen). There’s something naturally funny about her. I don’t know how many times I ended up laughing or being amused by the things that come out of her mouth or the thoughts that run through her head. She is just adorable and weird in the best way.

I am going to give this book five red hearts, even for Imogen alone. However, Erin McCarthy also gave us a wonderfully sexy hero who can race our hearts and heat up the room. That’s another reason for a good rating.

Ty was a really great guy. He had his insecurities because of his dyslexia. However, he was still able to rise up in life and make a name for himself, one that’s famous and gets outstanding achievements in his niche. It’s just like any other human being. As individuals, we all have some thing we feel insecure about, and we spend our whole lives overcoming our inadequateness and coming out on top.

The conflict at the end was a bit unnecessary and exaggerated. I personally think there could have been bigger issues written for these two very strong characters. However, it does not sway me from the fact that this is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read in a while.

USA Today and New York Times Bestselling author Erin McCarthy sold her first book in 2002 and has since written almost fifty novels and novellas in teen fiction, new adult, and adult romance. Erin has a special weakness for New Orleans, tattoos, high-heeled boots, beaches and martinis. She lives in Ohio with her family, two grumpy cats and a socially awkward dog.
