“Life is built of these little horrible moments and the giant expanses of awesome in between.”

I am a fan of Christina Lauren. I find that a collaborative effort between two writers does have an advantage that is so obvious in the books. There was no hint of cheesiness in the entire book. It was told in a matter-of-fact way that had be turning from page to page until I finished it sooner than I expected.

I really enjoyed Mia and Ansel’s story. I like that it did not end in the usual HEA, one where the hero and heroine would live happily ever after and spend the rest of their lives together. Instead, it only had the PROMISE of an HEA, something that the hero and heroine can look forward to in the meantime. It’s also something that readers of the series can look forward to.

I am going to give this book four red hearts. This was such a great first book for a series that is seriously going to get me hooked. I truly enjoyed the fact that the three friends all got married in Vegas. It sounded just like what a group of friends would do, a decision that a group of friend would make on a wild night like the one they obviously had.

I certainly enjoyed that the whole book took me with it like I was one of Mia’s friends. I was pissed at Ansel too, and I also thought that what he did with leaving Mia blindsided by Perry was a dick move. And yes, I totally agree with Mia when she left in the middle of the night to go back home. I would have given her a high five if she was a real person that I knew.

I also sympathized with Ansel in a lot of areas. I know it was difficult for him to adjust to his life with a new wife in tow. I also admired him for being patient and caring with Mia. That’s why it was really hard to reconcile everything he showed with the fact that he hid th truth about Perry until he had no choice but to explain.

The best thing I liked about the book was how Mia picked her life up and fixed herself after she left Ansel. She finally found the courage to stand up for what she wanted out of life. She went back to dancing, in a different way from how she was before the accident. She talked to her mom and sort of healed their palpable distance from each other. He father may be a different story, but as her mother said, he would come around eventually.

I cannot wait to read Harlow and Finn’s story. I have a copy of that book, but I am still looking for the right time when I can insert it in my very tight schedule. One thing is for sure, though. I am sure that whatever Christina and Lauren dishes out in the future, be it another book or a whole new series, I will be one of those people who will be super excited.

“I find myself wanting to congratulate past-me for doing or saying whatever it was that caught Ansel’s attention in the first place and-by some act of God or alcohol I still don’t understand-held it. Sometimes, I think, past-me is a genius.”
