Synopsis

Vampire bachelor Samson can’t get it up anymore. Not even his shrink can help him. That changes when the lovely mortal auditor Delilah tumbles into his arms after a seemingly random attack. Suddenly there’s nothing wrong with his hydraulics – that is, as long as Delilah is the woman in his arms.

His scruples about taking Delilah to bed vanish when his shrink suggests it’s the only way to cure his problem. Thinking all he needs is one night with her, Samson indulges in a night of pleasure and passion.

However, another attack on Delilah and a dead body later, and Samson has his hands full: not only with trying to hide the fact he’s a vampire, but also with finding out what secrets Delilah harbors for somebody to want her harm.

Review

I started this series without any expectation. I haven’t read anything from this author before. Normally paranormal romance novels are full of cliches. Vampire, werewolves, witches, and the mere mortals. Lots of times, everything that has ever been written about vampires get recycled. I was afraid I’d read things in this book that I’ve already encountered from other books.

Well, there were lots of cliches. Vampires die in the sun. They blood-bond, the can’t eat solid food, the love sex, the list goes on. The good thing is that I still enjoyed this book. There was enough going on to hold my attention until the very end. There was a good amount of suspense that made me want to get to the end as soon as I can, so I’d know just who the main antagonist was.

While I felt like Delilah and Samson had an insta-love factor, I still enjoyed reading the whole story. The story is quite funny with Samson suffering from erectile dysfunction which immediately got cured the moment he met Delilah. I found Samson’s sessions with his psychiatrist to be one of the highlights of the book because those sessions were light and funny.

The chemistry between Delilah and Samson was off the charts hot. The sex scenes were scorching, and if you like hot sex in books you’ll enjoy this book because there were lots of that. There was even a secondary scene where Amaury, Samson’s friend, had hot, rough sex with Samson’s ex-girlfriend. That scene was super hot too.

I think I’m going to read on and follow this series and see what’s going to happen to the rest of the vampires in Scanguarsd. I’m even looking forward to read about Thomas, the gay vampire whose heart got broken in this book. I’m glad I picked this book to read this week because it sure introduced me to another author that’s worth following and watching out for.
