Main Characters: Jocelyn Timmons, Jackson Chandler

FantasyYoung Adult

Questions, questions, and more questions.. they consume Jocelyn Timmons’ life—both of them. Questions that never seem to have an answer. They haunt her, eat at her, and dreams of a normal senior year of high school have finally floated away into nothingness.

Inheriting the gift of EVE (Essence Voyager Era) has become both a gift and a curse. One that Jocelyn doesn’t know if she wants or can accept. The world she once knew and thrived in has all but disappeared in the last two months. And now she wonders if she can ever find her way home again.

Her fiancé, Jackson Chandler, and his family seem to be the only ones who understand what she’s going through besides her uncles, both of which she’s grown very close to. But even they do not fully grasp how turbulent the situation at home has become. Will Jocelyn survive the torments from her mother and brother? Or will she find a hidden key to finally unlock her golden cage?

I received a copy of this book from CLP Blog Tours in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

I’m not into the young adult genre. However, this series from A.L. Waddington is proving to me that the YA genre definitely has some of the best books in modern literature. First thing I loved was the cover. Yep, all three books had reall, really beautiful covers that grabs at you and makes any reader want to start reading it.

I also loved all the characters in the book. The heroine, Jocelyn, was really likeable. Her unique ability was extraordinary. The hero, Jackson, was swoonworthy. The bon between the two of them was undeniably strong, spanning ages and different lifetimes. I love the hero and the heroine individually, but I love them all the more when together.

This series is a great read for any young adult because it does not copy the tropes of new adult or adult contemporary fiction. Instead, it creates a different atmosphere where you can enjoy reading about a young heroine who braves certain challenges in love and life. It also takes you on a ride to two different eras, so it’s like reading two different books at the same time.

This third book is equally as great as the other two books that came before it. The best thing about Perception is it gets you even more excited to read the fourth book which is entitled Illumination.
