confetti confidentalSusan Murphy will be on tour April 13-20 with her novel Confetti Confidential: They Do, I Don’t

How can you be a part of a couple’s big day when your own love life is crumbling? Her once happy life in tatters thanks to a cheating husband, lacklustre career and a wrinkling face, Viv no longer believes in love and happiness. In fact, she hates them both. The problem is that as a marriage celebrant, gleeful love is what she has to deal with every day. With 10 hilarious and tragic weddings (and a funeral) to get through before she can give up being a celebrant, can she prove that love and happiness are the pathetic hopes of the naive, or will fate intervene and show her that what she secretly craves could be right in front of her?

As far as chick lit goes, this book is one great example. First, the bigger story here is about the heroine and how she picked her life up after countless obstacles. It wasn’t much about finding romance. It was more about a woman’s resilience, a woman’s intrinsic ability to be strong.

Second, it was also more about the relationship between the heroine and her sisters, ones she loved and was very close to. It showed how women bond, whether they are bound by blood or by a deep-rooted friendship. It shows how strong a sister’s bond is. It shows that good womens stand by each other as much as they stand by their men.

The romance comes in last because everybody needs a significant other to love, even the strong heroines who clearly already have a lot of love in her life. So yes, there is still romance but it was not really the focus here. Personally, I could care less who the heroine ended up with as long as she was still the same person inside as she always was, strong, warm, dependable.

This book is definitely a good read and reader will surely enjoy the heroine’s journey as well as the secondary characters who almost steal the show. I’d surely recommend this book to women who like their books clean with a dash of empowerment. This book certainly has the right mix of those.
