Synopsis

When D.C. lawyer Hannah McCrae heads home for her brother’s wedding, she’s dragging a lot of baggage along with her—and she doesn’t mean suitcases. Betrayed personally, and humiliated professionally, the last thing she wants is a new man. That’s fine with square-jawed, rugged contractor Calder Blue. He and Hannah may be wildly attracted to one another, but all he wants is to build the town’s hotly contested new yacht club and mend a centuries-old family feud. Yet thanks to resentments old and new, day after day the pair wind up tangled in each other’s business—and maybe soon in each other’s arms.

Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve already mentioned that I like small town settings. It’s mostly because I love the close-knit ties between the residents. I like that people know and care about each other. This book is set in the lovely seaside town of Blueberry Cove. It is a first book in a new series from Donna Kauffman.

The first part of the book was packed. We get to know the hero and how he’s working on repairing a generatios-old family feud. We also get to know the heroine who’s been through a very bad betrayal by her boyfriend whom she did not know was already married. We get to know the other secondary characters who play important roles in the series as well as in this book.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read that was fun and easy to read. I wish that there was more depth in the relationship between the hero and the heroine. It was an insta-love thing which was still mostly good, but I guess I was just looking for a better development in the love story department. Aside from that, this seems to be a promising series that will no doubt entertain fans and romance readers.
