Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I took a chance on this author because it looked like an interesting contemporary romance novel, and lately, my shelf has been full of those. This author is new to me. In fact, this author is new. Period. This is her debut novel, and I’m glad I got to read this.

I am pleasantly surprised to have greatly enjoyed this book. It had a lot of elements in it that still did not make the plot seem messy and overwhelming. There’s the romance part, if course, and there’s the light suspense plus an injection of family drama and self redemption.

The story was written in an easy, flowing manner. It was enjoyable to read. The main characters definitely had chemistry. The secondary characters like the two best friends were interesting, and the heroine’s grandparents were hilarious. I also liked the TV drama part. It was kind of like watching The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, but not really watching because I’m reading it.

I think I really like this author. I have decided to watch out for her other book which is supposed to be about the two best friends. This book was a big gamble for me, and I am so glad that the gambled payed out well this time. I would certainly recommend this book because it is an entertaining piece of fiction.
