Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love KA. However, the last book I read from her brought me down in a really bad way, so I wanted to take a rest from her books until I got over the disappointment that was Wild And Free. However, I found out that it’s hard to stay away when the third Chaos book is just about to come out. Therefore, I grabbed it right away and prayed that this book won’t ruin my love for one of my favorite MCs.

It did not.

That first quater of the book? It was the bomb. It was so great it kind of ruined my entire day because after I started with that, I didn’t want to stop anymore. But, hello, I need to make money too. So I went to work in a bad mood because work ripped me away from my KA fix. Kristen Ashley has a way of creating characters who are complex, imperfect, and engaging. I felt bad for Joker. I felt hopeful for Carissa.

Halfway into the book, I knew that I was going to forget that Wild And Free ever happened because this book, Ride Steady, is exactly why I love Kristen Ashley. Unfortunately, the second half of the book dragged out for me. There’s wasn’t anything much that happened. The main conflict was really just the ex husband. The little bits of suspense on the Chaos side weren’t that necessary into the plot. I don’t know. I feel like it became two books that were forced to merge into one, in a not-so-good way.

I loved the first half, but I found the second half a bit disappointing. That’s why as much as I wanted to give this book the highest rating possible, I may have to take it down a notch. The good news is that Ride Steady took my mind off my previous hesitations with new KA books. Also, it gave me more Chaos. it gave me Lee Nightingale too, and he’s my favorite KA hero. Well, second to Kane “Tack” Allen, that is.
