Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read my share of mob or crime family books. I think there is something compelling about men from crime families. It makes them seem disciplined, fearless, deadly, a great combination of a man’s man. More often than not, these mob romance novels miss the spot. It’s either too cheesy to be believable or too cold to even like the romance factor.

The Marriage Contract is a solid mob romance with really steamy scenes and electrifying chemistry between the main characters. As you can expect from any book by Katee Robert, the romance is just great. It may be a bit of an insta-lust thing, but it was still enjoyable. There were lots of things that put their relationship in danger, but both MCs has the strength of character needed to beat the odds.

All in all, this was a good read. For a first book, this definitely catches the attention and interest of the readers. I, for one, will definitely be watching out for the next installments. While this is not her best work, the book is still pretty much everything you’d want a mob romance to be. Sometimes I felt like I was overwhelmed by all these characters being introduced. Still, it wasn’t that hard to follow which one was what and all that.

If you already love Katee Robert, then don’t miss this book. While it won’t be my personal favorite, this book definitely has potential, and I’m thinking that things will only go up from here. I’m pretty sure the next books will blow our minds, so until then, I’m hanging on. Plus, that man on the cover is gorgeous!
