I received a copy of book from Book Enthusiast Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

So.. before I picked this book up, I checked out the reviews on Goodreads. Unfortunately, they didn’t help me in making a decision. The reviews were contrasting. Some loved the book. Some didn’t and said that it lacked some things. I decided to read the book because it did sound interesting and sexy. Fortunately, I was not let down.

The heroine got cheated on. She took a job on a dude ranch as a chef. She and the ranch owner fell in love instead. This happened in the first half of the book. I have to say that I think the first half dragged on a bit. Also, that little side story about the ex boyfriend wanting to reconcile because he needed her financial support was unnecessary. The fact that the heroine had her own money could have been established a different way.

The second half of the book is when things started to pick up. The hero’s ex came back and introduced a child who was said to be the hero’s son. The ex tried very hard to come between the main characters, driving them further and further apart. The heroine leaving the ranch to be with her sister. The truth about the child being revealed. And finally, the hero going after the heroine to win her back. That all happened in as many pages as the first half took.

I think my biggest issue was the pacing because it did get boring in the beginning. When the pace picked up, it became really interesting. I have to say that this book is a good, entertaining read all in all. I just think that a few polishing may be needed to really brush off the parts that could have been done without.

I will definitely read another book from this author, as I’m sure that it will be another really sexy story. I do hope that it will be a big improvement from this, though. Anyway, like I said, it’s still a good book, and I’m glad I read it.
