Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you’ve followed this author, then Dragon Fall won’t overwhelm you at all. You already know her dragons and the series she’s written with them as main characters. However, if this is your first book, and you are expecting this to be a first book in a new series, you might get a bit disappointed.

I liked the premise of this book. I like the paranormal elements of this book. I mean, this author has been writing about this stuff for a while now, so I’m sure she already knows her craft. What I didn’t like was the heroine. Don’t even get me started on her. I find it sad that a good, solid book would have such a disappointing heroine. The hero wasn’t that much better too. Together, I couldn’t really get into their chemistry. I feel like the relationship was forced and wasn’t really a natural progression from animosity to love.

Another thing that I liked the least in this book was that it felt like being in the middle of a series. Like I mentioned earlier, this series is interconnected to her other dragons series. It’s just that when you’re a new reader, you don’t really know this new world and the characters and terminologies yet. Therefore, even if you write the first book for a spin off, it’s still better to treat it like book 1 of an entirely new series and re-introduce the whole plot to the readers.

Anyway, as much as I’ve complained about the book, I may possibly still read the next book because I’m sure that I will enjoy it more, especially if the characters are better and easier to relate too.
