I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I requested for this book because it’s a new series, and I liked the synopsis. Also, I’ve been hearing good things about this author. This book is a solid beginning. The characters introduced were all interesting and were written well.

Regarding this book’s story, it may have been too outrageous. I mean, the whole idea of terrorists, trackers, and the CIA seem a bit like TV or the movies. Anyway, it was fun and I like adventures in my reading list. The main characters definitely had chemistry. Of course, I always think that there is always amazing chemistry if the main characters have history. There’s always that tension and unfinished business.

Anyway, there were some quirks to the author’s writing that I found weird. But I think those are minor and maybe that’s just her signature. Therefore, I won’t complain much. What’s important to me is that this book entertained me in its entirety.

I’ll surely check out the next installments because Ms. Walker has gotten me intrigued with this series. I do hope that the future books won’t have all those weird similes anymore. I mean, they were funny sometimes but not all the time. While I believe the the writing as a whole needs a bit more polish, the idea and the arc as well as the character development were all good, so I’m happy.
