Review

I received an ARC of this book from IndieSage PR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

I loved this book. of course, Penny Reid has been making a name for herself these as being a great author when it comes to contemporary romance that are unique, light, busy, and entertaining. Aside from that, her characters are complex and different.

What I loved about Truth Or Beard is the way the Winston brothers were introduced. Of course, Ashley Winston’s book came before all of them. However, these six bearded men are really too good not to get to know better. Each brother had his own individuality. That is a difficult feat for an author to achieve. I have to admit, this book focused more on the five brothers and left the other one a bit unclear. Nevertheless, the five Winston men were definitely great characters.

Cletus was weirdly adorable. Jethro was intriguing. Beau was a charmer. And Duane… well, he said all the right things. He wasn’t the charmer that his twin was. He was just real. And Jessica was every bit the besst heroine for someone like Duane. I liked how she still had dreams but was very careful in not hurting her family by stressing her need to get away.

If this had just been a simple love story between Jess and Duane, I may have rated it one red heart less. But no. It was about childhood memories, crushes, happy endings, dreams, and family drama too. I was a but confused how the whole MC factored into the story, but I guess they are all interwoven and more of that will be revealed as the series progresses.

I will more than watch out for Jethro’s book as well as the next installments for the rest of the Winston brothers. Then again, I would actually just follow anything that Penny Reid publishes.
