Review

I received an ARC of this book from Book Enthusiast Promotions in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know why I always had the impression this was a stepbrother romance. I think it must be the cover. I’ve seen lots of stepbrother romances with this kind of cover. Well, I guess, it does have some connection to the stepbrother romance (I won’t explain why).

I went into this book thinking this was going to be angsty and steamy. I was partially right because it was indeed angsty and steamy. However, it was also a bit depressing and emotional. It had a sweet ending and a nice epilogue, but a lot of the book was sad, and I kind of wanted something that pulled me out of the sadness.

The author did a good job with the characters’ development. Carter grew from a poor boy who lacked for love into a man who had much love to give. The heroine was also a solid character who showed kindness and bravery. Throughout the story, I felt like no two people deserved a happy ending as much as they did. This is a good book that I’m happy to recommend.
