Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first book, and I have to admit that the reception and the buzz that surrounded that book surprised me. I haven’t heard of the author before reading that book, so I was truly not expecting the book to be quite popular. Anyway, I liked that first book. When I was given an ARC for the second book, I was excited to read it because I was dying to know what happened next, after the way the first book ended.

On a positive note, this second book was actually the way I would have liked it to be. The relationship between the main characters and the development of that relationship was very evident. It’s not like in the first book. No, they are more personal now, more connected, more complicated. I have to say that this book’s hero was probably the star of the book and the series as a whole.

I would have liked to rate it higher, except that I now feel that book 2 was actually unnecessary. I feel like book 1 was a longer story with many things happening to it. Book 2, however, almost kind of dragged. There wasn’t much going on. Personally, I would have loved both books if they were put in one long book. The story would have been more intense, more thrilling, and more exciting. Anyway, what do I know, right? I liked this book, though, so I guess I should stop at that.
