Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book from this author. The reason I picked this book up was that the blurb sounded really intriguing. Of course, the story was all in all a good, solid one. I liked the heroine because she was fiercely determined. I like books where the heroines are not simpering weaklings who become victims of choice and circumstance. In this case, Cora had a goal, one that showed how loyal she is and how much she values family.

I was expecting to be mildly entertained. I am surprised to have liked this book more than I expected. I mean, I’ve been burned many times whenever I try out new-to-me authors. Thankfully, I ended up liking this book enough to want to read the next installment. It may have focused too much on the romance and lost the suspense element somewhere along the way, but I’m not complaining. Hopefully, the next installment will be better and edgier.
