She’s a challenge he can’t afford to lose…

Navy SEAL Steven Thomas has only ever been able to count on three things: waking up in the morning, going to sleep sometime during the night, and Lauren Brixton. She’s been his best friend since grade school, and what they have is the only relationship he’s managed not to ruin.

Until one drunken night puts that all in jeopardy.

Lauren’s watched Steven flit from one-night stand to one-night stand, seemingly not interested in something more. So when the long-ignored attraction between the two of them blows up in their faces, she does the only thing she can-she pretends she doesn’t want him. But all’s fair in love and war, and Steven’s not about to lose the only person in his life who matters…

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I’m sad to admit that I haven’t read anything from this series before. Luckily, this book can be read as a standalone, so I didn’t feel left out or overwhelmed at all. That’s a good thing because I liked this book. I love the friends-to-lovers trope, so this book was definitely a huge entertainment for me.

I don’t know how many times I’ve said that I always enjoy Entangled’s Brazen line. Their stories are steamy and sweet in just the right amount. They’re currently my favorite category romance line. I like the fact that Brazen’s books aren’t too long. I can read them right before bed and finish the whole book in a matter of hours. However, despite being quick reads, they boast a lot of story, and the characters all have depth and go through enough development throughout the book.

While I haven’t read the previous books from this series, I have to say that because I really enjoyed this book, I might actually have to go back to the other books and read them. I think that I will also have a blast with those, judging from how I enjoyed this particular installment. Anyway, I’m glad I got to read this book because I now have more books to look forward to.
