They tell you that a parent’s love is all consuming. I never put much thought into it. Not until the minute I heard her take her first breath. That little girl is my world. I’d do anything to protect her.My ex signed over her rights and her family vowed that my daughter didn’t exist. Now that she’s gone, they want my little girl. They’re trying to say I can’t give her what she needs.

I’ve known Evan all my life. Our families farms run parallel with each other. He and my brother Aaron have been best friends for as long as I can remember.

What they’re trying to do is wrong. He needs my help, someone he can trust and I’m more than happy to do it. I volunteered without hesitation.

I should have thought about what it would be like to have our lives intertwined. I should have thought about what would happen when our time together ended and how my heart would feel when I had to walk away.

I received an ARC of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s release promotions.

I loved the hero in this book. I mean, it’s usually the men who shy away from parenthood and leave the women to take care of the baby. However, in this book, the hero was the one who was willing to take full responsibility for his child, with the mother opting to be out of the girl’s life. I know it must have been hard for him, especially because he was a man. Babies are just too difficult for one person to take on alone.

I also loved the heroine because she was caring, and she had a really big heart. I think that from the very beginning, I was already a fan of both main characters individually. This book was a sweet and pleasant surprise for me. It was a surprise because I was expecting the usual contemporary romance with the brothe’s-best-friend trope. But the book became so much more than that. The character development of both hero and heroine was wonderful to witness. The secondary characters were also well-written. This book is really something I’d be glad to recommend to friends.
