You’ve all met the children and Eleanora and Tom English…but how exactly did down-on-her luck waitress,Eleanora Watters, meet trust fund hottie, Tom English?

You won’t want to miss this Christmas novel that tells the story of how Eleanora met Tom, while he was visiting Vail in the 1980s.

Trust fund playboy, Tom English, was supposed to find a “good woman” and marry her by midnight on his 32nd birthday. If he didn’t, his grandfather promised to disinherit him. Unfortunately for Tom, three days before he was set to get married in Vail, his fiance elopes with her skiing instructor leaving Tom high and dry. With only a week before his birthday, it looks like Tom will forfeit his millions.

When Eleanora Watters, a smart, sassy – totally broke – waitress, spies down-on-his-luck Tom English in the breakfast-all-day diner where she works, she doesn’t think much of him. He’s at least ten years older than she is and he looks like another trust fund jerk with a silver spoon shoved up his…a-hem. But Tom surprises her. Set up on a blind date by Eleanora’s cousin, the two bond over books, and after spending just a few hours together, Eleanora offers to marry Tom in order to help him secure his fortune.

After a whirlwind marriage in Las Vegas, Tom and Eleanora begin to realize that they’re not as unlikely a match as they once seemed, and their feelings for each other deepen. But when Tom’s grandfather sees through their scheme and threatens to cut them off, Tom will have to decide if he wants the money more than the Colorado waitress who seems to be something between “a dream and a miracle.”

Review

I received an ARC of this book from Rock Star Lit PR in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been a fan of Katy Regnery. I like that her books are relatable and very easy to get hooked into. Her heroes are imperfect men but will easily sweep any reader off her feet. Her heroines are women of substance and uniqueness. I don’t even try to read blurbs anymore. When I see that a book is written by her, I trust that it will be a good one or at the very least, enjoyable.

Marrying Mr. English reminds me of good romantic comedy movies that I’ve seen through the years. It’s a mix of The Bachelor and other movies that I’m sure I’ve already seen. However, there’s something that can be said about reading the story as a book instead of watching it as a movie. From the moment that the main characters met, I could already feel their chemistry.

I like that the hero here wasn’t your typical rich alpha male. I wish the heroine wasn’t that many years younger than him. I would have liked to see them have equal footing when it came to their age, but that’s a very minor and insignificant desire that I have. All in all, I really loved this book. Of course, I always enjoy a good love story and this book is definitely one.
