Synopsis

Shy computer specialist and amateur chef Tina Hayes travels to Circle Bar K ranch to scatter her father’s ashes in the Tetons of Wyoming. Once there, her father’s old army buddy and his cast of cowboy ranch hands persuade her to stay on as the ranch’s cook for a while. It’s not a hard decision, especially when she meets Wyatt McCabe, a man who makes her heart gallop like no one else. But with so many cowboys to choose from, can Wyatt show Tina that he’s the only one for her?

Review

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first book from this author. I unfortunately wasn’t able to read the books that came preceded this in the series. However, I didn’t feel like I was missing a huge piece of the story. I feel like this book is a good book which could have been so much better, but I just felt like it lacked some thing I couldn’t put my finger on, or maybe it lacked the sum total of the little things that I looked for but didn’t find.

First up, I couldn’t really connect with either main character. I didn’t feel like there was any character development. Apart from starting out as a shy virgin, she became a sexually liberal woman in just a short time. I mean, even Anna Steele had trouble coming to terms with her sensuality and submissiveness. Now, the hero on the other hand, didn’t win me over. I didn’t get his appeal. I don’t know. I’ve met so many cowboy heroes from many other books, and I fell in love with them.

I believe that the story was actually good, except that the characters were played out in an underwhelming way, at least for me. I will probably check out other books from this author because even if this book didn’t particularly work out for me, I believe that she may have others books that will.
