Inspired by a fairytale, VIKTOR is a standalone Contemporary Romance by New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author Clarissa Wild.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s release day promotions.

I’ve read other books from Clarissa Wild before, but I was really excited for this book because it’s a Beauty and the Beast type of romance, and if you know me, you’d know that it’s my favorite fairy tale and that I love a good Beauty And The Beast book because I always believe there’s just so many things you can take away from the fairy tale and from its retellings.

Viktor is a beast. When I say beast, it means he has physical disfigurements that make him ugly. And there were really heavy reasons for those scars that he has. Lexi, for all her beauty, is a prostitute. This story is a fairy tale, but it’s not. We don’t have a beautiful heroine who’s perfect and flawless. Lexi is flawed, broken, difficult. But it is because of both their imperfections that the story works so well.

I like how Ms. Wild throws in plot twists like there’s no tomorrow. I mean, I already know her techniques by now, but she still never fails to surprise me with those twists she adds into her stories. Viktor has dark elements, but it is all in all a good and solid contemporary romance novel that will give you a few hours of relief from reality, so you can lose yourself in a tale as old as time.

“Why am I still here?” she whispers as my hand disappears into her panties.

“Because you want me. Because you can’t leave.” I slide my fingers between her slit. Her folds are already wet for me, even before I’ve laid a hand on her. I grin against her skin, finally understanding why I want her so much. She needs it rough … and rough is all I am.

“You used this against me, Lexi …” I whisper in her ear. “Used your pussy as a tool to get information.”

“It wasn’t just that …”

“Show it to me then.”

The nightgown falls down to the floor, exposing her naked body right in front of the open window. But with no one around, neither of us cares. I’m going for the kill.

“Make me believe the lie that’s us,” I say, rubbing her clit.

“It’s not a lie …” she murmurs, her breaths coming out in short gasps.

“You only say that because my hand is around your throat,” I say, dipping my finger into her pussy. She gasps out loud as I go deep and swirl around inside her. “Because I own this pussy.”

“Fuck …” she moans.

I groan and then pull away, releasing her from my grip entirely. A confused Alexis turns around and props herself against the windowsill, her eyes pleading with me as I walk backward. My cock is hard, but my desire to know where we stand is much more urgent. Her legs draw together and she clutches her body as another draft enters through the window, her nipples peaking from the cold.

I can’t help biting my lip as I watch her become befuddled while I sit down on the chair on the opposite end of the room.

“Go on then …” I say, rubbing my bottom lip with my index finger. “Carry on with the little show you had going in my workroom.”

She stares at me for a few seconds before leaning back. Her eyes glance over her shoulder to the opened window. I wonder if she’s thinking what I’m thinking. If she’s hesitating … trying to decide whether to run or stay … if she wants me more than her freedom.

But then her eyes settle on me as I zip down my pants and pull out my cock. There’s a gleam of desire in her eyes … one that makes me grab a hold of the base and say, “You want this? You can have it … after you show me you really want it.”

Let me just say that I am a fan of Sawyer Bennett. However, this series is my absolute favorite from her. Every book in the series has been hot, sexy, and full of alpha men whose dominance and strength are really what BBFs are made of. While Woolfe’s book is not my favorite, he is definitely my favorite hero, with Bridger coming in a close second. That’s because I am really frawn to the leaders. With Wicked Need, Rand didn’t have to be a leader to win me over.

When an excerpt of this book was introduced in Wicked Lust, I’ve been excited for this since then. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands of Cat and Rand’s story. And Ms. Bennett did not disappoint. She brought her A-game with her when she wrote this book because I have to say, every story has steadily become more intense than the previous one. I hope to get to Logan’s and Bridger’s stories because I can just see those books really setting up Kindles on fire.

I don’t think I have to say more except that I really loved this book. Rand wasn’t really a character that I loved in the first two books, although I admire him for his confidence and his security in his sexuality. Catherine was also introduced in the previous books but only barely. This book really gave me an insight into them as main characters with interesting depth. This book gets five stars from me.

She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

I’ve waited for this book ever since I finished Reign. I mentioned in my review then that I didn’t think Zeke’s character would ever get the redemption that was implied in the series. But I was wrong. I ended up loving Reign, and I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. As it turns out, it was everything I hoped it would be. Of course, we get to read about the Devil’s Dust here. We get to see Zeek’s brother, Lip. Their relationship is muddy, to say the least, but in this book, we learn that family isn’t just the people you find throughout your life. It’s also about the people you have the same blood with.

It’s weird, but I really love Jillian and Zeek together. Their scenes together were always hot, always burning with passion for life, love, and principle. I know that there were some people who didn’t like the first book because they saw the heroine as a spineless police officer who threw away her clothes at the first sight of the outlaw. But this is fiction, and everyone’s more than welcome to their fantasies. And that’s just what Jillian and Zeek’s characters are. A fantasy that in their world, a hardened criminal and outlaw could fall in love with a straight police officer and that their relationship could actually work.

I love that while this book concludes the story of Jillian and Zeek, in no way does this conclude the story of the series. There is still a lot of things to look forward to, lots of enemies to watch out for. I always like that Ms. Forgy has a way of combining a serial and a series together. The smaller story is done, but the bigger story on the Sin City Outlaws has just begun, and I can’t wait to witness more of it.

“Just—Just get in the shower,” he mutters, pulling back the shower curtain.

“Why are you doing all this?”

A pensive look crosses his face. “All of what?”

“This!” I wave my hands around. “Holding that nice old couple at gunpoint, in here with me. All of it?”

His eyes rake over me, and he shrugs. “So you could shower.”

“So you kidnapped a little old couple so I could shower?”

It’s wrong, so wrong. Yet, I feel my chest tighten with longing and adoration. I like it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I can’t help my attraction to him. His stare is cold, his calloused hands rough, but his draw is soft and alluring.

“You going to get in?” He flicks a brow at me.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I keep saying this, but I love Tessa Bailey. Her dirty-talking heroes are always a treat to read. It takes a lot for an author to successfully create a hero who talks dirty without the whole dialogue sounding creepy or weird. Tessa Bailey does that with no difficulty. I think every hero I’ve ever read from her knows how to talk dirty. But other than that, these heroes of hers are far from perfect. They have flaws, they’ve made mistakes. But all in all, they are alpha males who know how to win their women.

You know me. You know I love second chance romances. And this book is that. I really liked the heroine because she was the strong one. She held on as much as she could. When she was left on her own, a single mother with a shitty job, she survived. She made things as good as they could be with her child. The hero redeemed himself because he did everything he could to win back the girl he left behind.

I read the first book in this series, and I liked it. But I think I like this one better. probably because I love the trope. But also because I really like a good redemption, and the hero got that. I always enjoy Ms. Bailey’s books, and this one is no different. I recommend this book whether you’ve read the first one or not.

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eight years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

From the Desk of Donna Edith…

My services are unconventional. My clients come to me with needs and I match them to other clients with needs of their own…

Promising young architect Killian Fitzroy: Driven, clever, eager to prove himself. Starved for sex, though he’s come to me for professional assistance, not personal. Needs: Someone unique, creative and fast. An artist with a feminine perspective to breathe life into a house he’s built.

Aspiring scenic designer Vessa Ratham: Sensuous, spontaneous, but secretive. Recently returned to Vermont armed with an art degree that qualifies her for little more than waiting tables. Needs: An opportunity to shine.

Yes, Killian and Vessa will satisfy each other nicely—in more ways than one.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read a book from this author yet. I took a chance on this book because the blurb was interesting. It doesn’t show that it’s part of a series, but I think it would be great if Ms. Edith got to put more couples in each other’s ways until they fall in love. In this book, the main characters weren’t consciously looking for love, but they found it unexpectedly.

The thing I liked about the book was the love story. I’ve read thousands of love stories, and at least one of those had a matchmaker being responsible for the main characters falling in love. No, it definitely wasn’t the love story. Instead, it was the way the book was written. Ms. Gold was able to really paint a picture. The words seem alive. This was a very pleasant surprise for me. I think that from now on, I’d be watching out for more romance stories from her.
