Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: April 19, 2016

Rand Bishop’s dreams of Olympic gold were shattered years ago but he’s left that all behind, settling into a new career and lifestyle that would make any man jealous. While he may not be competitively racing down the ski slopes anymore, he’s just as happy getting his rocks off as a Fantasy Maker for The Silo.

He’s good at what he does.
Damn good.

But while life couldn’t be better for Rand, it seems to be falling apart for Catherine Lyons Vaughn, the dark haired, brown-eyed beauty that has captivated an entire sex club.

Having spent years degrading herself on her husband’s whim and now left destitute after his death, Catherine has hit rock bottom. With nothing but her body to peddle, Catherine is merely trying to figure out how to survive in a harsh, cruel world. Lucky for her, Rand has taken her under his tattooed wing, and he’s determined to give her a safe life where she can be the woman she was always meant to be.

Now all Catherine has to do is believe she deserves the chance.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

Let me just say that I am a fan of Sawyer Bennett. However, this series is my absolute favorite from her. Every book in the series has been hot, sexy, and full of alpha men whose dominance and strength are really what BBFs are made of. While Woolfe’s book is not my favorite, he is definitely my favorite hero, with Bridger coming in a close second. That’s because I am really frawn to the leaders. With Wicked Need, Rand didn’t have to be a leader to win me over.

When an excerpt of this book was introduced in Wicked Lust, I’ve been excited for this since then. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands of Cat and Rand’s story. And Ms. Bennett did not disappoint. She brought her A-game with her when she wrote this book because I have to say, every story has steadily become more intense than the previous one. I hope to get to Logan’s and Bridger’s stories because I can just see those books really setting up Kindles on fire.

I don’t think I have to say more except that I really loved this book. Rand wasn’t really a character that I loved in the first two books, although I admire him for his confidence and his security in his sexuality. Catherine was also introduced in the previous books but only barely. This book really gave me an insight into them as main characters with interesting depth. This book gets five stars from me.

About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Mary’s strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

I love Lora Leigh. Her Breeds series is still one of my favorite science fiction romances. Her other contemporary romance books were a hit and miss sometimes, but I still really like reading her books because they provide a few hours of steamy entertainment. When I first read a Bound Hearts book, I was just starting to like the BDSM contemporary romances. She was one of those authors who made me love the subgenre.

Guilty Pleasure features main characters who have already been hinted at in the series. I have to say, though, that while I still enjoyed this book, I felt like it lacked a certain umph to it. It’s like I’ve read stories like this a hundred times before, and there wasn’t really anything about the book that made it stand out. I really loved the first few books in this series. This is already the 11th book, which is probably why it already feels forced, like it’s written just to continue on with the other characters.

Now, because I am a fan of Ms. Leigh, I still believe that this series makes for a good re-read every now and then. You know, when you’re looking for a good erotic romance with BDSM elements, menage, and anything kinky, the Bound Hearts books are just the fix you need.

Lora Leigh lives in the rolling hills of Kentucky, often found absorbing the ambience of this peaceful setting. She dreams in bright, vivid images of the characters intent on taking over her writing life, and fights a constant battle to put them on the hard drive of her computer before they can disappear as fast as they appeared. Lora’s family, and her writing life co-exist, if not in harmony, in relative peace with each other. Surrounded by a menagerie of pets, friends, and a teenage son who keeps her quick wit engaged, Lora’s life is filled with joys, aided by her fans whose hearts remind her daily why she writes.

Gunnar is a ruined man in a desolate world. He might not believe in black magic, but if there’s the chance it might bring back his lost mate from her early death, he’ll try it. All he needs is to capture a virgin – a rare thing in his torn world – to make the doomed spell work. He does not expect the passion he feels for his beautiful captive to wreck him every time he looks at her. But sometimes temptation is just too much…

Maud was promised to the church a long time ago. Yet when she encounters brooding, ruthless Gunnar, the desire that flares between them obliterates any sense of duty. She’s managed to avoid surrender all these holy years – her very soul has depended on it. But Gunnar’s iron control makes her want nothing more than to bare her heart, and submit to him completely…

The first book in this series, Edge Of Obsession, was also my first book from this author. I was intrigued by the dystopian setting that had BDSM and erotic elements. I quite liked that book. The world-building was okay. I felt like it took a while for the main characters to get to the same page, but it was worth it in the end. With this book, though, I find that I am conflicted.

I liked the story arc. We have Gunnar, who has been mentioned in the first book, as the hero. If you read book 1, you’d know that he went a little crazy when he lost his mate, at least, that’s how the brothers saw him. Now, he is on a mission to find a virgin sacrifice. Enter the book’s heroine. I couldn’t totally fall in love with Gunnar. I liked the heroine, but I found it difficult to start rooting for the hero, especially when he was always stubborn and rude and cruel.

What I do like about this series is that even if there are already lots of dysytopian post-apocalytic books these days, Ms. Crane pushes the envelop here and gives readers a wildly erotic series with alpha males and strong women. I think Tyr and Helena is still my favorite, so far, but I am looking forward to more books and more characters.

Then David comes to Bangkok, and Kate realizes that, finally, she must choose one of the three men who all desire her.

Wow. I don’t think I have enough words for this book. I don’t mean it in a bad way. It’s just that this book was erotica and sensuality through and through. There is enough character development to sustain a reader’s attention but most of the book was about seeking pleasure. This book will really get you all hot and bothered. I haven’t read anything from this author before, but I find that I do like this particular book. It’s not like the usual books I go for. There is nothing dark, or sweet, or even larger than life about the book. However, I really did enjoy reading it.

If you want something to warm you up on a cold night, I suggest you read this book. I, myself, don’t mind re-reading this book and even looking out for more books from this author in the future.

Christmas will soon be here, and with it, the second trial of the Acquisition.

This is probably a difficult review fopr me to write because I find it hard to talk about the book clearly without giving away much of the plot or the arc. However, what I can say it that I have started to really enjoy this trilogy. I read Counsellor maybe a week or two ago, and I haven’t been able to review it because the story just wasn’t finished yet. I’m not saying that the story is finished in this book. It’s just that there is more of it now for me to rate it and say something about it.

The story may sound impossible in real life, but who knows, right? For all we know, there really is a secret society of the most influential families who do the same things as the ones in this series. The main characters, especially the men were complex people. As a reader, you never could really know who to place your bet on. The femal protagonist is a very likable character. She is no simpering innocent, and that’s great because the things she has to go through require strength and courage, and the heroine was obviously made of those traits.

I can’t wait for the third installment. I want the heroine to triumph over everybody else, even the hero himself. Of course, I want a happy ending. As of now, I can’t imagine how Ms. Aaron will play out the rest of the story. That’s probably the main reason why I’m so excited for the next book to come out.

Celia Aaron is the self-publishing pseudonym of a published romance and erotica author. She loves to write stories with hot heroes and heroines that are twisty and often dark. Thanks for reading.
