Review

I received an ARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s release promotions.

Everybody should know by now that when the book has a “Laura Kaye” on it, it’s guaranteed to be a great read. I mean, I know I haven’t read every single LK book, but all the books that I have read, well, I loved them all. And this book is definitely no exception. I was looking forward to reading and reviewing this book because it’s a first in the series. But more than that, I really was just looking forward to Ms. Kaye’s raw, gritty story.

I love MC romances, and there has been a surge of MC romance novels lately. It’s like every contemporary romance author has at least one MC book or MC series. But only very few writers actually get to put an authentic MC vibe to their books. Some of these books are too cheesy, too romance-inclined, too sex-inclined. I didn’t have to worry about any other that with this book. I am definitely going to be following this series jsut as I will surely follow LK’s other releases.

Excerpt

Nervous excitement rippled through Haven’s belly as she approached Dare. His brow was furrowed and his eyes were narrowed, his whole expression painted with an intensity she couldn’t read. But, oh my God, did he look hot sitting on that bike. Strong thighs straddled the motorcycle. Lean, cut arms stretched to the handlebars. Long hair all blown back from his face.

Wild. Hard. Raw.

As excited as she’d been to ride with Jeb, she was about a million times more ecstatic to ride with Dare. After last night, arousal flowed lazily through her just to look at him. So getting to be so close to him when she wasn’t sure that would happen again? She couldn’t have been happier.

“Okay,” she said, slipping the helmet back on. Dare wasn’t wearing one, and Jeb hadn’t either. Weren’t they supposed to wear helmets? Wasn’t it dangerous not to? But his face was wearing that serious, shuttered look he sometimes got, the one that wasn’t much open to answering questions, so Haven didn’t ask.

He gave her a hand on, and then she had no choice but to wrap her thighs around the outside of his and press her front against his back. She rested her hands lightly on his hips, suddenly feeling awkward about holding on to him the way she’d done so innocently with Jeb. She was probably way overthinking it, but what had felt easy with Jeb felt more weighted, more significant with Dare.

“You ready?” he asked over his shoulder.

“As I’ll ever be,” she said.

Dare pulled her hands around him, making her embrace his chest. Their closeness shot butterflies through Haven, because he felt so good in her arms. “Hold on to me, Haven,” he said, beckoning even more butterflies. And then he took off, slowly at first, like Jeb had done.

She couldn’t believe she was touching Dare this way, but between their closeness, his hard heat, and the ride, Haven was grinning into her helmet. They rode down the mountain at an easy pace, Dare leaning them gently into the curves.

Haven loved the openness of the ride, the way the warm air rushed over her skin. It made her feel like she was flying, like she could go anywhere, like she was free. When the road flattened out into a straightaway, they passed a big parking lot and stadium—the racetrack she’d heard people talking about. A huge mural filled one whole exterior wall—the words Green ValleyRacing painted in green over a waving black-and-white checkered flag. She’d never seen a car race in person, but she would love to. Maybe that was another thing for her list.

And, oh man, the fact that she got to check another item off after having done it with Dare absolutely tickled her. Which made her wonder again why Dare had come after her and Jeb.

I need Haven.

His words came back to her, making no more sense now than they had when he’d said them. What did that even mean? What did he need her for? Did it have anything to do with what happened last night? Haven didn’t know whether to be excited about that possibility or scared—after all, Cora had said he’d seemed agitated. What if whatever had agitated him was why he wanted to talk?

Her shoulders sagged at the thought.

They came to a stop sign at the edge of the racetrack’s long driveway, and Dare looked over his shoulder at her. “Wanna take it fast or slow? Your call.”

Something in his eyes made her belly flip. “Fast,” she said.

The corner of his eye crinkled. “Was hoping you’d say that. Hold on tight.”

Synopsis:
Rand Bishop’s dreams of Olympic gold were shattered years ago but he’s left that all behind, settling into a new career and lifestyle that would make any man jealous. Damn good.

But while life couldn’t be better for Rand, it seems to be falling apart for Catherine Lyons Vaughn, the dark haired, brown-eyed beauty that has captivated an entire sex club.

With nothing but her body to peddle, Catherine is merely trying to figure out how to survive in a harsh, cruel world. Review:

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

Let me just say that I am a fan of Sawyer Bennett. However, this series is my absolute favorite from her. Every book in the series has been hot, sexy, and full of alpha men whose dominance and strength are really what BBFs are made of. While Woolfe’s book is not my favorite, he is definitely my favorite hero, with Bridger coming in a close second. That’s because I am really frawn to the leaders. With Wicked Need, Rand didn’t have to be a leader to win me over.

When an excerpt of this book was introduced in Wicked Lust, I’ve been excited for this since then. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands of Cat and Rand’s story. And Ms. Bennett did not disappoint. She brought her A-game with her when she wrote this book because I have to say, every story has steadily become more intense than the previous one. I hope to get to Logan’s and Bridger’s stories because I can just see those books really setting up Kindles on fire.

I don’t think I have to say more except that I really loved this book. Rand wasn’t really a character that I loved in the first two books, although I admire him for his confidence and his security in his sexuality. Catherine was also introduced in the previous books but only barely. This book really gave me an insight into them as main characters with interesting depth. This book gets five stars from me.

About the Author

Bennett_photo_2014

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Mary’s strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Blurb

It started out like any other morning on the train.

Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.

He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.

Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?

Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.

When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left.  So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.

I might have picked it up.

I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.

I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days—until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.

When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.

So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.

I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.

I didn’t expect him to text back.

I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.

I didn’t expect to fall for him—all before we even met.

The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.

Yet, you know what they say about opposites.

When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract—we consumed each other.

Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Review

I received an ARC of this book from TRSOR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

Let me just say it. I loved this book. I loved this collaboration. With Cocky Bastard, it was a little meh for me. I liked that Chance Bateman made a cameo apperance in this book, but hey, I didn’t really fall in love with his book, though. But this right here? Well, I loved it. I loved Soraya and Graham. But let me break down things further.

I loved Soraya. I think she was the perfect mix of spirited and mature. She was confident in herself even if she had trust issues. She was selfless but still knew how to fight for her man. I just loved her character. Graham, on the other hand, well, he was a treat. He was surprisingly loyal despite being a jerk in the beginning. He was sweet. He was just the right man for a girl like Soraya. Most of all, I loved Chloe. I won’t elaborate on who Chloe is, but if you read this book, I can guarantee you will love her too.

I will definitely recommend this book to anyone. If you want a sweet and a little bit sexy romance that will touch you and entertain you at the same time, then this book will do just the work. I hope Ms. Keeland and Ms. Ward will continue on collaborating because they surely put out great books together.

Excerpt

Outside of the restaurant, Graham’s black car was already curbside.  He must have had it waiting and called the driver when I went to the restroom.

“If you’re not going to come home with me, I insist on at least giving you a ride home to your place.”

“The subway is right around the corner.  I’m good.”

He shot me an annoyed glance.  “Give a little, Soraya.  It’s a ride home, not a ride on my cock.  And I think you know by now that I’m not a serial killer.”

“You’re so crass.”

He put his hand on the small of my back and steered me to the waiting open car door.  I didn’t put up a fight.  Graham was right, I was being stubborn while he had pretty much agreed to anything I demanded.  Something told me it was a rare occasion when the man was this flexible.

When we arrived at my apartment, Graham walked me to the door.

“When will I see you again?”

“Well, tomorrow is Saturday, so I suppose maybe Monday on the train.”

“Have dinner with me again tomorrow?”

“I have plans.”

His jaw flexed.  “With whom?”

We embarked into a lengthy stare off.  His gaze was hard.  When neither of us gave for a few minutes, he grumbled Christ under his breath, and before I realized what was happening, my back was against the door, and his mouth was on mine.

He kissed me as if he wanted to eat me alive.  Before releasing my mouth, he took my lower lip between his teeth and tugged.  Hard.  With his lips vibrating up against mine, he spoke.  “Don’t push me to my limit, Soraya.”

“Why?  What will happen?”

“I’ll push back.  And I’m trying not to do that with you.”

He was being honest, and I realized I should appreciate that.  “To my sister’s house.  It’s my niece’s birthday party.  That’s where I’m going tomorrow night.

He nodded.  “Thank you.”

It took every bit of my willpower to go inside and shut the door behind me.  I leaned my back against the door, unable to remember the last time I was so hot and bothered.  Maybe not ever.  His mouth was sinful; the thought of what he could do with that wicked tongue other places on my body kept me in a state of arousal that bordered on frenzied.  But it was more than that.  The way he was so dominating and controlling, yet exercised restraint to respect my wishes, was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen.  The man stimulated something that had been sleeping inside of me.  I needed a glass of wine and an orgasm.  Not necessarily in that order.  If I was going be firm on my stance that we get to know each other and not have sex, then taking things into my own hands was absolutely essential.

In my bedroom, I stripped out of my clothes.  I didn’t sleep naked every night, but tonight was definitely a bare evening.  As I slipped into bed, my cell rang.

“Is phone sex on the table?”  Graham’s voice was a needy rasp.  Whatever cooling off my body had done since I left him on the other side of the door was instantly reheated.  His voice could definitely speed things up for me.  But…

“Sex is off the table.  That should probably include all types of sex.  Intercourse, oral, phone.”

He groaned.  “Oral.  God, I want to taste you.  And feel that metal tongue ring on my cock.  You have no idea how difficult it was to control myself tonight every time I caught a glimpse of that metal when you spoke.  It’s like you’re taunting me with every word.  What are you wearing, Soraya?”

That voice.  I needed to record him saying What are you wearing, Soraya?  So I could play it over and over again in a loop when I needed to satisfy my own needs.  “I’m actually not wearing anything.  I just got undressed and slipped into bed.”

“You sleep naked?”

“Sometimes.”

He actually growled.  “Touch yourself.”

“I plan to.  But I think I’m going to need both hands tonight.  So I’m going to hang up first.”

“How long do you plan on driving me crazy, Soraya?”

“Good night, Graham.”  I hung up without waiting for him to respond.  Even though my body physically ached for the man, I wasn’t ready to open that door with him just yet.  Although as I glided my hand down my body alone in my bed, the only thing I could think of was God, I wish it was his hand.

Review

I received an ARC of this book from TRSOR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

I’ve waited for this book ever since I finished Reign. I mentioned in my review then that I didn’t think Zeke’s character would ever get the redemption that was implied in the series. But I was wrong. I ended up loving Reign, and I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. As it turns out, it was everything I hoped it would be. Of course, we get to read about the Devil’s Dust here. We get to see Zeek’s brother, Lip. Their relationship is muddy, to say the least, but in this book, we learn that family isn’t just the people you find throughout your life. It’s also about the people you have the same blood with.

It’s weird, but I really love Jillian and Zeek together. Their scenes together were always hot, always burning with passion for life, love, and principle. I know that there were some people who didn’t like the first book because they saw the heroine as a spineless police officer who threw away her clothes at the first sight of the outlaw. But this is fiction, and everyone’s more than welcome to their fantasies. And that’s just what Jillian and Zeek’s characters are. A fantasy that in their world, a hardened criminal and outlaw could fall in love with a straight police officer and that their relationship could actually work.

I love that while this book concludes the story of Jillian and Zeek, in no way does this conclude the story of the series. There is still a lot of things to look forward to, lots of enemies to watch out for. I always like that Ms. Forgy has a way of combining a serial and a series together. The smaller story is done, but the bigger story on the Sin City Outlaws has just begun, and I can’t wait to witness more of it.

Excerpt

“Just—Just get in the shower,” he mutters, pulling back the shower curtain.

“Why are you doing all this?”

A pensive look crosses his face. “All of what?”

“This!” I wave my hands around. “Holding that nice old couple at gunpoint, in here with me. All of it?”

His eyes rake over me, and he shrugs. “So you could shower.”

“So you kidnapped a little old couple so I could shower?”

“Yep!”

It’s wrong, so wrong. Yet, I feel my chest tighten with longing and adoration. I like it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I can’t help my attraction to him. His stare is cold, his calloused hands rough, but his draw is soft and alluring.

“You going to get in?” He flicks a brow at me.

About the Author

M.N. Forgy was raised in Missouri where she still lives with her family. She’s a soccer mom by day and a saucy writer by night. M.N. Forgy started writing at a young age but never took it seriously until years later, as a stay-at-home mom, she opened her laptop and started writing again. As a role model for her children, she felt she couldn’t live with the “what if” anymore and finally took a chance on her character’s story. So, with her glass of wine in hand and a stray Barbie sharing her seat, she continues to create and please her fans.

Review

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book’s blog tour promotions.

Young love. It’s beautiful, pure, hopeful. It’s just so good to be young and in love with the rest of your life ahead of you. There’s nothing better knowing that as good as things are at the present, you still have so much time and so many years to make the good things even better. That’s what the main characters should have. Their love was something that started out from friendship. It grew deeper when they got older. They were each other’s person. They understood each other the way other people could not. This book is wonderful, but it is also a tearjerker. You will cry. You will be sad. At the end of the book, you will look around you, see the ones you love, and feel so lucky that you have them, that you can hold them, and they can hold you back. That you still have all the time in the world to appreciate them and what they mean to you.

To be honest, this book is not my favorite from Ms. Cole. However, this book deserves all the stars I could rate it with. There’s just so many things to take away with this book. I know it’s hard to read between the lines or read beyond the words. But I urge you to do so. Read this book and don’t just get caught up with the story of the main characters. Look at things in your life as well and imagine it happening to you. Don’t ask the author to make sure you get to relate to the characters. Instead, be the characters themselves. Live their lives. Look at yourself as Poppy and Rune. Then, let me know exactly how things would happen in your story.

This book shows us that real love knows no age. Also, it’s not just about romantic love. There’s the love of a child for her grandmother. The love of a sibling. The love of a parent. The love of a friend. There’s so many kinds of love in the world, and this book shows us a lot of them. When Tillie Cole releases a book, I never hesitate to read them. The reason is that even in the simplest of stories, she is able to pull out emotions from her readers like a magic trick. This is why she is my all time favorite author. I really loved this book, and I know many people will love this book too.
